Add the WhatsApp button to Shopify

Four steps, no code. Enter your number, save, flip on the app embed, and the floating button is live on every storefront page.

Step 1. Open the app and go to Settings

In your Shopify Admin, open the WhatsApp Floating Button app and go to the Settings tab.

Step 2. Enter your WhatsApp number with country code

Type your number in full international format with no plus sign, spaces or dashes — e.g. 923001234567.

Step 3. Save your settings

Optionally add a pre-filled message, then click Save settings inside the app.

Step 4. Enable the App Embed in your theme

Go to Online Store → Themes → Customize → App embeds, toggle WhatsApp Button on, and click Save.

How do I add the WhatsApp button to my store?
Open the app in your Shopify Admin and go to Settings. Enter your WhatsApp number (include country code, no spaces — e.g. 923001234567). Optionally write a pre-filled message customers will see when they tap the button, then click Save settings. Next, go to Online Store → Themes → Customize, click the App embeds icon (puzzle piece) in the left sidebar, find WhatsApp Button, toggle it On, and click Save. Your button appears on every page of your storefront immediately after saving.
What format should my WhatsApp number be in?
Enter your number with the country code, no spaces, no plus sign, no dashes. Examples: Pakistan 923001234567, UAE 971501234567, United Kingdom 447911123456, United States 12025551234, India 919876543210. This is the format wa.me links and the WhatsApp app expect.
What is the pre-filled message?
When a customer taps the WhatsApp button, WhatsApp opens with this text already typed in the message box. It saves the customer from typing — they can just hit send. Example: “Hi, I have a question about my order.” Leave it blank and the message box opens empty.
Does it work on mobile and desktop?
Yes. On mobile, tapping the button opens the WhatsApp app directly. On desktop, it opens WhatsApp Web (if installed) or prompts the user to open it. On the Starter plan, you can independently show or hide the button on mobile and desktop from the Settings page.

WhatsApp button not showing? Start here.

The button is not appearing on my store
Check these in order: 1) Make sure you clicked Save settings in the app after entering your number. 2) Confirm the App Embed is toggled On in the theme editor (Online Store → Themes → Customize → App embeds → WhatsApp Button → On → Save). 3) Clear your browser cache (Ctrl + Shift + R) and reload the storefront. 4) Check that your WhatsApp number is not blank in Settings. 5) Check your plan: on Free, visibility settings are fixed; on Starter, confirm mobile/desktop visibility are both enabled in Settings.
The button shows but clicking it doesn’t open WhatsApp
The button opens WhatsApp via a wa.me link. If it’s not working: confirm your WhatsApp number is correct and in the right format (country code, digits only); on mobile ensure WhatsApp is installed on the device; on desktop WhatsApp Web must be set up at web.whatsapp.com.
I made changes in Settings but they’re not showing on the storefront
Settings are stored as Shopify metafields. After saving: 1) Wait 10–15 seconds for Shopify to propagate the update. 2) Hard refresh your storefront (Ctrl + Shift + R, or Cmd + Shift + R on Mac). 3) If still not updated, try opening the storefront in a private/incognito window.

What’s included in the Free plan?
The Free plan ($0/month) includes: a floating green WhatsApp button on all storefront pages, a custom pre-filled message, support on mobile and desktop, and small “Powered by MatrixInn” branding.
What does the Starter plan add?
The Starter plan ($2.99/month) unlocks: custom button color to match your brand, left or right positioning (bottom-left or bottom-right), show or hide on mobile independently, show or hide on desktop independently, and removal of MatrixInn branding.
How do I upgrade to Starter?
In the app, click Plan in the navigation, then click Upgrade to Starter — $2.99/month. You’ll be taken to Shopify’s secure billing page to confirm. Premium features unlock immediately after approval.
How do I cancel my Starter subscription?
Go to Plan in the app and click Cancel subscription. Your plan reverts to Free immediately with a prorated credit for unused days (handled by Shopify’s billing system).

How your data and your customers’ data are handled.

Does this app collect customer data?
No. The app collects no customer data whatsoever. It stores only your WhatsApp number and button settings. When a customer clicks the button, WhatsApp opens on their device — the conversation is entirely between you and your customer. We never see it.
Is the app GDPR compliant?
Yes. No personal data from your customers is collected, stored, or processed. The app handles Shopify’s required GDPR webhooks (customers/data_request, customers/redact, shop/redact) and deletes all your settings when you uninstall.
WhatsApp number format

Country code, digits only — no “+”

The single most common reason a tap doesn’t open WhatsApp is the number format. Use full international format: country code first, then the number, with no plus sign, spaces or dashes.
